Are arch supports and custom orthotics the same thing?
No, arch supports are over-the-counter and only for arches. Custom orthotics address your foot, knee, hip and back pain issues, whether your issue is arch related or not. These work well for high arches, flat feet and everything in between.
Can I buy your orthotics anywhere else?
No, they are specifically designed to the needs of your unique body mechanics. They are custom made to fit your unique feet and go along with a corrective exercise plan.
How are your custom orthotics different from inserts and arch supports I can buy online or at stores?
They are molded after carefully reviewing your history, videos of you walking and a deep-dive into your health and lifestyle goals. Then your orthotics are imprinted with the structure and support your body needs, where you need it. Your feet aren’t generic, your orthotics shouldn't be either. Dr. Melanie Carlone has designed a MAGIC insert (Maximal Arch Gait Integrated Cast insert) that is formed according to how you currently move and includes support to improve your alignment.
A shoe store told me I need three different pairs. Do I?
No, one pair made to your specific feet is all you need. You can order more pairs if you don’t like moving them from shoe to shoe. They can also often be modified over time if needed and appropriate.
Will your Orthotics fit in the shoes I already have?
Yes and no. They will fit in most every shoe. Pointed toe shoes not so much.
Will I be able to take my orthotics home the same day I purchase them?
No, these are custom made and have a two week turnaround time to manufacture.
Can kids wear custom orthotics?
Yes, kids feet and their alignment can be improved greatly by our MAGIC orthotics system.
I buy good shoes, but my feet still hurt. Can orthotics help me?
Absolutely! It’s common for people to think that their shoes are the problem, when in reality it’s usually the foot in the shoe, and the body above it, that’s the problem. Your feet and your whole body alignment are improved by MAGIC custom functional orthotics.
Does insurance cover Orthotics? Can I use my HFSA plan towards a purchase of Orthotics?
Yes and no, Dr. Carlone is a medical provider and Align Renew Thrive Physical Therapy does diagnose and prescribe orthotics. However, we do not bill insurance and not all insurance plans cover orthotics. Patients who believe orthotics may be covered under specific plans or policies should contact their plan administrator for information regarding current coverage, or Health Flexible Spending Accounts
